The owners of Spanish bass and bream producer Culmarex, Canadian group Cooke Aquaculture, reached an agreement to acquire the insolvent Acuigroup Maremar, Spanish media reported.
Maremar is currently 99.9 percent owned by CaixaBank, which took over the producer when it acquired Banco de Valencia, reported Europa Press.
As reported by the bank, the transaction -- which requires authorization of the judicial authority -- would ensure continuing operations of the farm.
CaixaBank has reached an agreement with the Cooke family, which obtained a foothold in Spain in 2012 when it acquired the country’s largest bass and bream producer Culmarex from Morpol.
