Chile's National Fisheries and Aquaculture Service (Sernapesca) confirmed an infectious salmon anemia (ISA) outbreak at a farm in the Aysen region, owned by Cooke Aquaculture's Salmones Cupquelan.

"The case was confirmed after the detection of the virus in in a sample taken by the service," Marcela Lara, deputy director of aquaculture at Sernapesca, said.

The HPR 3 variant of the virus was taken out of the center Mentas 2 in Aysen in October 2014, Sernapesca said.

Sernapesca plans to maintain official surveillance on the center and on other farms from the area.
