President Michelle Bachelet this week asked Chilean businessmen to collaborate so there is “the least unemployment possible.”
"Private companies are not charity organizations but there is room to collaborate with a task that is everybody’s, which is for there to be as least unemployment as possible. We either dance together or things will be tough," said Francisco Vidal, the president's spokesman.
Oceana CEO Alex Munoz made a series of statements regarding these layoffs and the situation of the Chilean salmon industry in a story published Friday in La Tercera, and also referred to the story recently published in The New York Times.
