All of the main whitefish ports on Jutland, the largest Danish island, such as Hirtshals, Hanstholm, Thyboron and Skagen, have rebuilt their fish reception and handling facilities.
“This competition and the investment that is part of it has resulted in some huge improvements in hygiene standards, fish quality and preservation of the cold chain from the fishing vessel and onwards to the processors -- and it’s the consumer who really gets the benefit of all this competition,” Jens Jensen, managing director at Hirtshals, told IntraFish.
