The fund upped its stake in Selonda last week by 8 percent, taking its shareholding to 24.5 percent. It also owns 21 percent of Nireus and 30.40 percent of Dias, two of the other largest fish farmers in Greece.

“We are still a strong proponent of Greek consolidation,” Anita Hamilton, partner and managing director with Linnaeus, which is controlled by Georgian businessman Kahka Bendukidze.

Consolidation is the only way the industry in Greece is going to be able to deal with its mountain of debt and growing competition from the Turkish farmers, Hamilton told IntraFish.
