The Saint Malo, France-based firm launched the brand earlier in the year and got listing in Auchan, Leclerc and Carrefour nationwide, but suffered a setback when a newly refurbished blue whiting trawler, the Joseph Roty II, was sidelined with mechanical delays and unable to fish from January through March.
Comapeche spent €10 million ($12.1 million) to upgrade the 90-meter (295-foot) vessel, and expects upwards of 200 metric tons of product produced each day and more than 220 working days annually.
The trawler is to provide large amounts of raw material for the production of the branded item.
