A major Canadian caviar producer has been quietly up for sale for some time and at least one company is researching the potential profit in order to make a formal offer.
Officials at Target Marine Hatcheries, which also owns and operates white sturgeon caviar producer Northern Divine, told IntraFish the sale process is underway and interested parties are "doing due diligence."
Bernie Bennett, president of Target Marine, said he and his partner want to retire and hand off the company's operations.
How far along the sales process each of the companies is at is unclear at this time since negotiations are ongoing, Bennett said.
