Paul Birger Torgnes of Fjord Marin opened the main meeting of the cod network conference ”Sats paa torsk” ("Bet on cod") in Bergen. There he also gave a rundown on his own company’s costly experiences in cod farming.
“We have been engaged in cod farming for the past 10 years, and have been present throughout the value chain from egg to sale. In that time we have spent NOK 500 million (€64 million/ $87 million) more than we have earned," Torgnes told the audience.
