That is apparent from an overview IntraFish has prepared over 15 salmon exporters based on accounting figures for 2009. As is the norm the margins are small for Norwegian salmon exporters. The combined margin average for the 15 companies on the list was 1.5 percent in 2009. Three of the companies had a negative operating result last year.
Regardless, the Western Norwegian company Coast Seafood was biggest and best. Of a turnover of more than NOK 2.6 billion (€312 million/$442 million) last year, an increase of 30 percent from the previous year, the Coast Seafood group ended up with an operating result of NOK 81.2
