The first shrimp from the farm will be 61-70s, and will be sold under a new brand, Laughing Bird Caribbean White Shrimp, Tim O’Shea, CleanFish founder and CEO, told IntraFish.
The Bowen family that runs the farm agreed to allow CleanFish to be the exclusive sourcing group and to handle brand development, O’Shea said.
The shrimp is a perfect alternative to wild-caught rock shrimp, which often are caught by bottom trawlers that destroy the ocean floor, then sprayed with preservatives, O’Shea said, while most farm-raised fish is grown using pesticides, disinfectants and antibiotics.
