Nine months after Australian yellowtail kingfish producer Clean Seas Tuna lost more than half of its harvest due to a tourine deficiency in the farmed fish’s feed, the company is aiming to quadruple its production over the next five years and is looking at algae grown in Kentucky as a potential solution to its feed problems.
Trent D’Antignana, quality control manager, told IntraFish the goal is to gradually increase the company’s annual harvest from the 1,500 metric tons it currently produces to more than 6,000 metric tons by 2019 using nutrition.
