Australian aquaculture company Clean Seas Tuna has reported in an increase in their Kingfish prices, despite a stronger Australian dollar.
Farm-gate prices were up 15 percent year-on-year, and this is due mainly to an increase in demand for the species in Japan, according to the company.
"The quality, reliability and consistency of product is making our fish sought after by chefs in both the fine and Japanese dining sectors," said Clean Seas Chairman, John Ellice-Flint.
He cited the tsunami that hit Japan as a key factor that helped the sales of fish suppliers outside of Japan.
