UK retailers saw a small increase in seafood sales in the 52 weeks through early December, led by a rise in chilled fish, according to Nielsen statistics.
The overall value of seafood sold reached £3.1 billion (€4 billion/$4.8 billion), a 0.2 percent increase from the previous year, with the price per kg rising 5.1 percent to £9.34 (€11.90/$14.10).
In terms of volume sold, total seafood sales fell to 337,000 metric tons, down 4.2 percent.
