The value of UK salmon sales at retail for the year ended Dec. 6 rose to £861 million (€1.1 billion/$1.3 billion), up 7.6 percent from £801 million (€1 billion/$1.2 billion) recorded the same period the year before. This marks the second consecutive year sales in the salmon category have risen.
Some 54,200 metric tons of salmon were sold, a 3.3 percent increase from the year before.
The value of chilled salmon sales saw a big increase of 9.8 percent, and was the biggest contributor to salmon’s rise in sales.
