According to Congressman Patricio Vallespin, who participated in the signing of the agreement, the deal will “define a specific labor provision for workers at farms and will regulate work to assure labor stability and good working conditions for thousands of people who will remain in the industry despite the crisis.”
Doris Paredes, president of the Federation of Trade Unions of Llanquihue, said “the idea is for there to be a regulation on labor stability and for indefinite contracts to be maintained, due to the obligation of three-month sanitary rest periods for farms in aquaculture neighborhoods.
