Salmon industry union leaders from the provinces of Llanquihue and Chiloe met briefly Tuesday with the president, who traveled to Puerto Montt to hold a meeting with the regional employment committee that released its highly awaited labor and training development plan.
The aim of the plan is to generate 11,000 jobs and create an additional 900 jobs for female household heads, as it is estimated women account for 60 percent of the total workers laid off so far.
The president announced the creation of a regional employment office.
