The strike started to develop during the first shift Wednesday and continued in the afternoon shift, said John Hurtado, president of the union representing the workers.
“We are mobilizing to put pressure on the company to pay us this bonus that is laid down in the collective contract,” said Hurtado.
At a meeting Wednesday with company management, he said the workers did not receive a positive reply to their request.
“They’re still saying they didn’t have sufficient profits in 2008, which is why they can’t pay the bonus," he said.
