BCI CEO Lionel Olavarria told El Diario Financiero that the possibility of forgiving part of the debt of salmon companies, as requested by AquaChile, “has not been considered in talks.”

He said that “the debt restructuring is very complex and is not a matter of what BCI can do. So far, no restructuring agreement considers writing off debt.” BCI is the largest creditor of AquaChile with liabilities of around $84 million (€60 million).

Olavarria’s view is shared by other players in the financial sector.
