The tough situation the Chilean salmon industry is going through is leaving some companies cash-strapped, including Cultivos Marinos Chiloe.

The company, one of the most important salmon export companies in Chile, says it has a "cash problem."

Statements by Francisco Jose Lopez, the owner of Cultivos Marinos Chiloe, to El Mercurio confirm the company is after capital.

There are strong rumors in the industry and in the financial sector the company might virtually be bankrupt, but Lopez told the newspaper "the company is in a tough situation, but there is no imminent bankruptcy or anything like that."
