Salmones Austral is joining New World Currents, the Chilean salmon producers commercial joint venture in China, and will gradually incorporate its Chinese arm into the consortium over the coming months.
In a statement, Eduardo Goycoolea, executive director of New World Currents, said the agreement will have a trial period of one year to allow Salmones Austral to familiarize itself with the operation.
Other members of the consortium include Australis, Blumar, Camanchaca and Yadran. Salmones Austral's addition is one of two expected to be announced this year, Goycoolea previously told IntraFish.
