At the North Atlantic Seafood exhibition in Lillestrom, Norway, IntraFish interviewed Borge Prytz Larsen of Russian importer Severnaya, a remarkably well-informed Norwegian.
Prytz Larsen said Russian authorities were so pleased with the model developed for Norwegian salmon imports, they intended to extend it to seafood imports from other countries, including Chile and China.
Russian officials say they have now uncovered fraudulent freight documents, including fake veterinary certificates for Chilean seafood.
The use of this Norwegian model has contributed toward gaining control over the flow of cash connected to fish sales, said Prytz Larsen.
