Experts from the United States and New Zealand attended the workshop, which was organized by the regional productive development agency.
Businessmen, trade associations, producers, researchers, among others, shared their experiences in this workshop.
The main speaker was the New Zealand expert Rob Pooley, director of Marine Farming Solutions (MFS), a leqader in the global mussel farming industry.
Before the workshop, Pooley visited production plants at Calbuco and on Chiloe Island, where he could appreciate the reality of this growing Chilean industry.
The achievements of the Chilean industry “are really surprising," he said, "as there has been growth in a very short time and even faster than that in New Zealand,” adding "development is similar in both industries."
