In the last few months many workers have lost their jobs in the salmon industry, and women account for a large portion of the workforce at processing plants and farms.
The plan, proposed by Chilean President Michelle Bachelet, includes support and training for females workers in Chile's Region 10, the hardest hit region of the country's salmon industry.
Workers interested in applying for government assistance should visit the Technical Cooperation Service (SERCOTEC) Web site, www.sercotec.cl, said the agency's CEO, Cristina Orellana
