This is a time for mea culpa in the Chilean salmon farming industry.

In the last few days, AquaChile President Victor Hugo Puchi and Francisco Ariztia, a key figure at Cermaq, controller of Chile-based Mainstream, outlined the industry’s current situation and what is needed for recovery.

Looking back, Ariztia told La Tercera newspaper: “it’s evident that we made mistakes and didn’t realize this. Do you want us to perform a mea culpa? Shall we do a [mea] culpa? We and our workers have paid the price.
