Saturday’s devastating 8.8 shaker has left hundreds dead, cities and towns in ruin, and people unnerved and uncertain of what will happen next and who will help them.

While it’s still too early to know the extent of the damage to the country’s salmon farming, mussel farming and other aquaculture operations, no doubt there will be some damage – and some industry impact – from what happened.

How this will impact shipments of product – as of this time, the airports remained closed and damage to roads and rail lines can be expected to be extensive – remains to be seen.
