The fisheries law that abolished perpetual licenses may have only been approved in parliament on Dec. 19, but 90 percent of companies have already made the switch to the tradeable fishing licenses, or LTP, method.
Ones that have made the switch include Camanchaca and Blumar.
By July 5, Subpesca received 30 requests for a change to the LTP method, which allows fishing companies to sell, transfer or lease their licenses and will last 20 years, after which it can be renewed or expired.
