The countries supplying it may be shifting in their production, but the overall supply of salmon into the United States remains the same as last year.
The amount of salmon imported into the United States in the first eight months of the year is 163.4 million kilograms worth $1.13 billion (€767 million), gains of 0.8 percent and 2.7 percent, respectively, over the year-earlier numbers of 162.1 million kilos and $1.1 billion (€747 million)reported by the National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS).
While the pie itself hasn’t grown, the market is being divided up in ways it wasn’t last year.
