Cermaq's Canadian presence is growing and could reach new heights with the addition of new farm sites and the expansion of existing locations.
The group, which applied for a new 59.7-hectare location near North Broughton Island in December, is also investigating the possibility of adding two additional oceanic farms near Tofino on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Grant Warkentin, communications officer for Cermaq Canada told IntraFish.
Along with the new site, Cermaq also applied for a 5.8-hectare expansion at its Compton Point farm and an 11-hectare expansion at its Wehlis Bay location, according to documents.
