Salmon prices, developments in Chile and the launch of the Global Salmon Initiative (GSI) defined 2013 for Jon Hindar, CEO at Norwegian salmon supplier Cermaq.
“Record-surging prices towards the end of the year, this year the average price has lain higher in the second half of the year than the first,” Hindar told IntraFish, mentioning in particular the positive development in Chile, which now stands a lot better equipped to deal with future challenges connected to fish health.
“The establishment of the Global Salmon Initiative (GSI) is a binding cooperation that covers 70 percent of global salmon production and which has the force to develop the industry in a positive direction,” said Hindar.
