Montalva lasted six months as the CEO of INTESAL, the technical area and representative of SalmonChile, the country's salmon industry trade organization.
Garate has wide experience with salmon farming health and disease issues -- he worked at Marine Harvest, then established the Aquatic Health laboratory that he sold to SGS, and was a G6 advisor on fish health.
He “will take over during a tough sanitary time, and his work will therefore be very important," SalmonChile said.
