"We have completely stopped advertising for salmon both on television and billboards," Ana Kurnatowska, fresh products director at Carrefour, told IntraFish. To compensate, they are running campaigns on trout instead.

Kurnatowska works at the Polish group's headquarters in Warsaw and was among those who flew to Gdansk to meet fisheries and the Norwegian Seafood Council last week in regards to the cod campaign.

Carrefour stores only sell fresh salmon from Norway and have an annual turnover of 500 metric tons, Kurnatowska said.
