US-based agribusiness company Cargill inaugurated an extrusion line for its fish feed production on Tuesday at its Tehuacán plant in Puebla, Mexico this year thanks to a 120 million peso ($8 million/€7.1 million) investment.

As part of its 150th anniversary celebration and 50th anniversary of operating in Mexico, Cargill hopes the investment will drive aquaculture growth in the south. The expansion is part of a 240 million peso ($16.1 million/€14.2 million) investment plan in Mexico and Central America.

The investment allowed for the extrusion line to be installed in a new tower responsible for feed production for catfish, trout and tilapia, which targets demand from markets in Puebla, Oaxaca, Veracruz, Chiapas and the Yucatán peninsula.
