One of the larger buyers of Russia sockeye in Canada is opting for other sources in the aftermath of the country's seafood import ban.

Rob Reierson, president and CEO of Canadian seafood buyer and seller Tradex Foods, told IntraFish the company has stopped buying fish from Russia.

"I'm not chancing anything coming out of Russia," he said. "I'm not touching any of it."

He said instead of utilizing Tradex's Russian operations to buy sockeye or cod, the company is working through its joint venture partnership in Korea, and turning its attention to the booming salmon supply coming from Alaska and Canada's Fraser River.

"Sockeye
