A Canadian frozen seafood trading company wants to slowly introduce more Icelandic fish species to the Asian market.

“Most of our buyers in Asia want to buy only Norwegian or Canadian fish, but every year we are now turning some customers into buying Icelandic fish instead,” said Amyn Farid, president of Toronto-based CTLE Seafoods, which has a sales office in Dalian, China.

Iceland is one of the top suppliers of Atlantic redfish to Japan and the rest of Asia, but CTLE wants to sell more species, such as Icelandic Atlantic mackerel, which according to Farid, is not very well known in Asia.
