Gavin van der Burgh, the former CEO and founder of South African-based Oceanfresh Seafoods, is back on the seafood scene at the helm of a new global fishing company – Afritex Ventures.

With headquarters in Mauritius, Afritex has strategic investments in a number of African-based fishing operations that market seafood to a global base of customers under the Pristine Seafood brand.

Afritex has now been operating for one year, with the Pristine Seafood brand in existence for two years.

Through its subsidiary companies, Afritex operates a fleet of deep sea trawlers focused on catching pink prawns, warmwater lobster and langoustines in Mozambique, as well as a fleet of long-line vessels targeting tuna, swordfish, dorado and other associated by-catch based in both Mozambique and Mauritius.
