Camanchaca signed a binding agreement to sell its fishing and fishmeal subsidiary in Ecuador, Centromar Pesquera, for $15.5 million (€12.5 million), on Friday. A group of Peruvian investors led by the Galleno family -- Peru’s Congelados Peruanos del Pacifico, or Conpepac -- bought the company.
The deal -- which closed Friday but is in a 48-day due diligence contingency period -- generates a profit of $6 million (€4.8 million) for Camanchaca, which was Centromar's sole owner. It also frees Camanchaca up to focus on its fishing and salmon aquaculture ventures in Chile, where all of its production is now based.
