"Miraculously all our people are safe," Bert Bachmann, vice president and general manager, told IntraFish on Tuesday.

"Our plants in the Concepcion/Tome area have minimal damage. Our [fishmeal] plants in the north and [mussel plants] in the south were not affected at all."

The key issue at this point is transportation infrastructure damage to highways and seaports, and to airports in Santiago and Concepcion, he said.

"The seaports at Valparaiso and San Antonio are getting back to speed and are almost operating at normal level," said Bachmann.
