Calvo shut down its tuna processing plant in El Salvador last week and said this temporary closure could last through October, El Mundo reported.
Calvo said it will resume activities when it has the raw material to continue packing tuna loins, its main activity in El Salvador, the newspaper said.
Despite the fact Calvo plans to incorporate more vessels to El Salvador to boost tuna catches and increase exports from that country, the tuna closed season that started on Aug. 1 forced the company to stop operations.
