The California Transparency and Supply Chains Act, effective Jan. 1, makes it a requirement for companies to come forward with their efforts to eradicate slavery from their supply chains.

“Every retail seller and manufacturer doing business in (California) and having annual worldwide gross receipts that exceed one hundred million shall disclose, as set forth in subdivision (c), its efforts to eradicate slavery and human trafficking from its direct supply chain for tangible goods offered for sale,” states Senate Bill 657, introduced in 2009 by California State Senator Darrell Steinberg.
