US canned tuna giant Bumble Bee Foods on Tuesday acquired US-based Anova Food LLC, a sushi-quality tuna company, Bumble Bee CEO Chris Lischewski confirmed to IntraFish.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but Anova Food LLC, President Darren Zobrist said the company's Clearsmoke technology is part of the purchase.
Clearsmoke is a unique technology that uses hickory chips to extend the fish's shelf life and the color without the smoke flavor, Zobrist told IntraFish.
Anova has become a leader in the global sourcing of wild caught and farmed raised finfish.
