Sockeye harvests in Alaska's Bristol Bay region were down 36 percent over the 20-year average, but the shortage lifted ex-vessel values and drove up the overall value to $141 million (€104.5 million) -- the seventh-highest take by value during the period, the Alaska Department of Fish and Game (ADF&G) said in its final season summary.
The overall sockeye harvest of 15.4 million fish was off by 6 percent from expectations, but the average price per pound hit $1.50 (€1.11) -- lifting the overall value significantly.
