Fishermen in Bristol Bay celebrated America's independence with the second-largest haul of the season on July 4, landing 2.12 million fish.

Last week it appeared the peak of the fishery "had come and gone," according to the Alaska Department of Fish and Game (ADF&G), but after a week low catch of 1.02 million fish on July 1, fishermen landed back-to-back days of more than 1.5 million fish before Friday's massive haul, and another 1.8 million fish on Saturday.

On Sunday, fishermen caught 954,00 sockeye, bringing the total caught to 20,087,831 fish, just shy of 2012 total catch of 20.6
