Built in 2003 for Faroese company JFK -- and named Skalaberg -- the ship was and still is one of the most sophisticated factory vessels afloat.

The vessels was constructed in Kirkenes, Norway and fished for JFK, mostly on cod in the Barents Sea, before being sold to Pesantar in Argentina two years ago, where it was renamed Esperanza del Sur.

When it was delivered, the 8,000 hp twin-rig trawler was a revolutionary vessel with one of the most sophisticated factory decks in existence, designed to process a range of niche products from waste that would otherwise become offal, alongside producing traditional shatterpack frozen roundfish fillets.
