Sao Paolo-based Nativ Pescados -- which operates farms and a processing plant in the Amazon basin close to the city of Sorriso -- was founded in 2006 and plans to grow on the domestic market, but also through exporting its farmed pintado, surubim and tambaqui products into Europe.

“Although the Brazilian market currently makes up 90 percent of our sales, we want to increase exports to comprise 40 percent of our sales over the next two to three years,” said Marcelo Eiger, Nativ’s research and development manager.
