Gulf seafood company owners expect to lose big if the current BP settlement receives approval by US District Court Judge Carl Barbier later this month.
Jason Delacruz, who owns the Gulf coast company Salty Fishing, expects BP's compensation for his losses to fall very short.
“It’s like they’re picking some of the fisheries that are most advantageous to them,” Delacruz told IntraFish.
The settlement's terms do not include all seafood companies that were affected by the spill due to narrow qualification requirements, such as needing to live within a certain zone, Attorney Madhu Sekharan, with Dean Miler and Associates, told IntraFish.
