Rick Spalding, director of marketing for Fishery Products International (FPI), explained to a packed conference room Monday the consumer behavior and attitude toward seafood in a recent nationwide study. The study asked consumers about seafood they ordered in the past six months – what species, how was it prepared, what they would have ordered if it was on the menu, and what type of dining establishment.
Overwhelmingly, the top seafood choice for all age groups is shrimp, said Spalding (pictured).
“Shrimp is available, it’s affordable, it’s consistent and it’s very versatile across the system,” Spalding said.
