US meal delivery site Blue Apron has brought on its first director of seafood; food industry veteran Jeffrey Ludwin.

Ludwin came to Blue Apron from his position as vice president of merchandising at Door to Door Organics, an organic produce delivery service in 15 US states, and as a senior merchant at FreshDirect, an online grocer.

Blue Apron announced its desire for a seafood director last year, and the company told IntraFish the category had previously been grouped with other proteins. It was time, a spokesperson said, to hire one person to take on the seafood load.
