The deal, whose terms will remain undisclosed until the deal closes, will double Biomar's presence in the Chilean fish feed market and add some 200,000 metric tons of feed to Biomar's production.
Biomar will acquire Provimi's production facilities in Horsens, Denmark; Duenas, Spain; and most importantly, Chile, where Provimi operated a 50-50 joint venture with salmon farmer AquaChile. AquaChile will have first right of refusal on the joint venture stake.
Provimi's fish feed revenues reached €175 million ($257 million) in 2006, 55 percent of which came from Chile.
