Norfolk-based Big Prawn’s Potted Seafood range -- potted crayfish and the potted shrimp, and king prawn cocktail with a sweet chilli mayonnaise -- will be stocked in Waitrose and sold online by Ocado.
“We wanted to give a traditional British product a more modern twist by introducing a new species, crayfish, and adding our own unique recipe to widen its appeal to a broader market,” said Paul Byrne, commercial director.
The company is “looking to encourage a slightly younger consumer to the category by offering an additional option to the traditional potted shrimp,” he said.
