The commercial Bering Sea snow crab harvest is starting slow this season with NOAA harvest reports showing 23.4 million pounds have been harvested so far through Feb. 3 -- about 38 percent of the total allocation of 61.2 million pounds. There have been 192 vessel landings so far.
Vessels have harvested 2.4 million pounds, or 36 percent of the community development quota (CDQ) allocation of 6.8 million pounds. CDQ vessels made a total of 14 landings through Feb. 3, according to The Cordova Times.
